Background: The B. M. Moore Correctional Center is a 500 bed male facility, housing TDCJ CID offenders. The facility is intended to provide rehabilitative services to offenders. The six year contract to operate the B. M. Moore Correctional Center was awarded to MTC on January 16, 2009.
Rehabilitation Programs:

During their stay at the facility, a variety of programs are provided to enhance each offender's ability to be successful upon release. These programs include:

  • General Education Development (GED)
  • Life Sills / Pre-Release Instruction
  • Vocational Education
  • Project RIO
  • Chaplaincy
Accreditation:

This facility will seek American Correctional Association (ACA) accreditation.

About Overton:

Overton is on the Smith county line sixteen miles northwest of Henderson in northwestern Rusk County. It was laid out in 1873 at a site that was to be the junction of two railroad lines and was named for Frank Overton, an early settler who owned land in the area and donated some of it for a townsite.
