| Background: |
The West Texas Intermediate Sanction Facility is contracted with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice to house offenders who have violated the terms and conditions of their parole. These offenders reside at the facility for a short period of time until a decision is reached to return them to parole status or to a Texas Department of Criminal Justice facility. The facility, managed under contract by MTC, is owned by the city of Brownfield with the TDCJ as their customer. MTC began operations in September 2001. |

During their stay at the facility, a variety of programs are provided to enhance each offender's ability to be successful upon release. These programs include:- Computer Literacy
- Financial Planning
- General Education Development Testing
- Life skills
- Ten Minute Cognitive Skills
- Toastmasters (starting in '07)
