Gary Job Corps Center has signed an MOU and vocational articulations with Texas State Technical College and, as a result, some 300 students have been enrolled at TSTC to continue their vocational training and to earn two-year degrees and certifications, in the last three years.
Gary students participate in apprenticeship opportunities offered by Roger Beasley Automotive, Austin, Texas, which lead to employment with this major Southwest Texas automobile dealership. Gary partners with Gulf States Toyota in providing Toyota specific technical training for students, who can then move on to advance training with Toyota product at Texas State Technical College.
Gary Job Corps Center provides office accommodations for the area American Red Cross and United Way organizations. Joint activities are undertaken with both organizations, including the training of students as Red Cross volunteers and donations to United Way supported agencies.
Area law enforcement officers receive specialized training at the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training Center (ALERRT), which opened about two years ago on a 196-acre tract at Gary Job Corps Center .The ALERRT Center is used train officers to respond to terrorism and crimes in progress. When the ALEERT Center was seeking a location, Gary Job Corps offered the site. The ALERRT Center has provided several Vocational Site Training opportunities to Gary students.
