The Tongue Point Job Corps Center developed a unique partnership between the center's Seamanship vocation and the National Response Corporation. Students in the Seamanship vocation serve as on-call crews for the corporation's cleanup tankers, which respond to oil spills and other environmental cleanup projects on the Pacific coast.
Tongue Point students also work regularly with the Astoria-Warrenton Chamber of Commerce, local radio station KMUN, Astoria Senior Center and Sunset Empire Parks and Recreation.
The Center is proud of its partnership with the Oregon Consortium and Regional Workforce Investment Board's Survivor's Youth Leadership Experience. At this camp designed for low income rural youth, Tongue Point students volunteer as camp buddies and assist in various roles during the weeklong leadership experience.
