The Tongue Point Job Corps Center developed a unique partnership between the center's Seamanship vocation and the National Response Corporation. Students in the Seamanship vocation serve as on-call crews for the corporation's cleanup tankers, which respond to oil spills and other environmental cleanup projects on the Pacific coast.
Tongue Point students also work regularly with the Astoria-Warrenton Chamber of Commerce, local radio station KMUN, Astoria Senior Center and Sunset Empire Parks and Recreation.
The Center is proud of its partnership with VOCA – victory Over Child Abuse. Staff and students attend 40 hours of training and assist at the two annual 3 day long VOCA camps which provide support and activities for child abuse victims.
