MTC names new head of Corrections Division October 12, 2005 – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (CENTERVILLE, Utah) – Management & Training Corporation (MTC) has selected Odie Washington to serve as Senior Vice President of Corrections. Washington assumes the top corrections post for one of the country’s leading providers of private adult correctional management. MTC operates twelve correctional facilities in the United States, Canada and Australia. “Mr. Washington has a distinguished track record in corrections of more than thirty years,” said Management & Training Corporation President Scott Marquardt. “He will help MTC to continue to build a reputation for providing high quality, accountable and cost effective corrections management.” Washington began his corrections career as a youth offenders’ counselor for the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) in 1973. After working his way up through the department for 21 years, Washington was named IDOC Director in January 1995. For the next four years he would oversee: 27 adult prisons, seven juvenile detention facilities, 75,000 offenders, 15,000 employees and a one (b)billion dollar budget. In March 1999 Washington was named director of the District of Columbia Department of Corrections. During his six years in that post he oversaw an historic restructuring of the department and a comprehensive $30 million corrections renovation project. Last year Washington received the Distinguished Service Medal from the Metropolitan Police Department of Washington, D. C. And in 2003 he earned the Michael Francke Award, the highest honor bestowed upon a correctional administrator by the Association of State Correctional Administrators (ASCA). “I’m pleased to be selected Sr. Corrections Vice President by Management & Training Corporation,” Washington said. “MTC enjoys an excellent reputation in the corrections industry.
