Clearfield Job Corps students build homes in Louisiana Clearfield Job Corps Center students were busy this fall helping to rebuild lives for families in Louisiana. The students traveled to Lafayette, La., to build homes for Habitat for Humanity, as work in the area continues in the on-going Hurricane Katrina recovery effort. Three Lafayette families had a hand in building their own homes while working with the Clearfield students. Clearfield resident David Thacker, who has worked with the Job Corps for several years, said the experience in Lafayette was great. It was the second time in four years Thacker has visited the Louisiana city with Job Corps. He said the crew enjoyed the project. "They love the work," Thacker said. Instructor Richard Griffiths, who has spent 18 years working with Job Corps' projects, said time flies on the road. "I've been doing this trek three years in a row," Griffiths said. "We bring a crew of six; it's a rewarding deal." (Posted 12/30/09) |
