Utah Congressman visits Clearfield Job Corps Center

Clearfield Job Corps Center officials took time during the busy holiday season to honor their community partners.  On Wednesday, December 20, 2006 the center hosted its annual Community Appreciation Luncheon for local business and civic leaders.  Among the honored guests was Utah’s Second District Congressman Jim Matheson, a long-time supporter of the center.

“Through our Community Appreciation Luncheon, we try to demonstrate our thanks to our many community and employer partners,” said Center Director Dean Hoffman.  “We are thrilled Congressman Matheson was able to celebrate with us.  He has stood in our corner for many years.”

While Congressman Matheson visited the Clearfield campus, he also discussed important policy issues that will affect Clearfield Job Corps and the Job Corps program nationwide.

“I have supported Job Corps ever since my first term in office because it provides critical educational and vocational training opportunities for young people and has a direct positive economic impact on our state,” explains Congressman Matheson.  “Utah residents compete in a global economy.  We want all of our young people to have the best possible chance to succeed in life.  Educational and job-training programs like Clearfield Job Corps are one of the best investments we can make toward that goal.”

Clearfield Job Corps Center – operated by Management & Training Corporation – has been ranked in 2006 as high as 19th out of 122 Job Corps centers operating throughout the United States and Puerto Rico.  Clearfield is the second largest Job Corps center in the country, with a student capacity of 1320.
