Clearfield Job Corps Center staff and students attend CERT training
Four Clearfield Job Corps Center staff members joined 25 center students recently, to participate in Citizen Emergency Response Team (CERT) training, provided by the city of Clearfield, Utah.
The center’s goal was to make both students and staff more safety conscious, while also making them an integral part of their community. City CERT coordinator Chuck Frady called the students “very enthusiastic and attentive” during the training sessions.
Clearfield Job Corps Center attendees now have a much better awareness of what to do in the event of a natural disaster. Among other things, they learned: first aid, search and rescue techniques, fire prevention and suppression and much more.
Frady also explained, the center trainees will now become part of a Clearfield quick response team. They could be called upon in the future to assist in searches for missing children, community evacuations or other emergencies.
The Clearfield Job Corps Safety Director has also implemented a system in which – when called for emergency service – the center’s entire CERT team can be at the front gate, loaded on a bus ready to respond, within 15 minutes.
