Truck driving program thriving at Clements Job Corps Academy

The long-haul trucking company YRC Worldwide and the Earle C. Clements Job Corps Academy are committed to providing a quality learning environment at the Kentucky center – and are succeeding.  ECCJCA students are learning industry-recognized technical and employability skills within the transportation field through the 16-week program.

The YRC Program is divided into four levels:

  1. Classroom instruction
  2. Physical aspects of the training
  3. Preparation for the Commercial Drivers License (CDL) driving exam; and
  4. Highway driving

Once they have successfully completed all four of the rigorous training levels, students then take the CDL exam.

YRC Worldwide employees enjoy competitive wages, excellent retirement and health care plans, a 401K saving plan and top safety performance awards.  However, in order to enjoy these benefits, students must pass stringent qualification requirements to even participate in the training.

To participate in this highly respected program, Earle C. Clements’ students must be within a month of their 21st birthday, possess a GED or high school diploma, have a TABE reading score minimum of 550 and have a valid driver’s license with two years driving experience.

Clements staff members are proud of their trucking program and say it has helped to turn many students lives around.
