Management & Training Corporation (MTC) is seeking to become the first private corrections corporate office to earn accreditation from the prestigious American Correctional Association (ACA). Undertaking the ACA accreditation process will offer MTC the opportunity to compare its correctional operations with the highest national standards.
Presently, only 13 state agencies have successfully achieved ACA accreditation for their central offices. MTC plans to join these elite correctional agencies in 2008.
ACA corporate office accreditation informs the corrections industry, courts, lawmakers and the public that MTC's operations and programs are credible, safe and humane for both staff and offenders.
First, ACA auditors will visit MTC's international headquarters in Centerville, Utah to conduct a pre-audit assessment. All corporate corrections departments will undergo an extensive assessment of compliance. The departments will be evaluated on 143 national standards. The audit team will determine if MTC has reached the required levels of preparedness necessary for a successful summer accreditation audit.
MTC entered into the accreditation arena in the early 1990s by accrediting its first correctional site . the Eagle Mountain Community Correctional Facility.
Today, MTC continues its tradition of correctional excellence by maintaining ACA accreditations at Lake Erie Correctional Institution, North Coast Correctional Treatment Facility, Kyle Correctional Center, Giles W. Dalby Correctional Facility, Otero County Prison Facility, Willacy County Detention Facility, Marana Community Correctional Treatment Facility, and Arizona State Prison-Kingman.
