‘The Cuban Guy’ entertains and educates

A man who fled Cuba at age 16…and was a millionaire in the United States at age 26… recently shared a powerful motivational message with Flint Hills Job Corps Center students in Manhattan, Kansas.

Andres Lara, also known at “the Cuban Guy,” is an internationally recognized motivational speaker.  He used is own story of escaping from Cuba to the U.S. at age 16 to encourage the students to be whatever they want to be.

Lara’s catch phrase is “goya.”  G.O.Y.A stands for “Get Off Your Anatomy.”  In other words, TAKE ACTION!

The Cuban Guy told Flint Hills students desire, hard work and perseverance are the keys to open the doors to success.

Flint Hills Job Corps Center Programs Director Johnny Taylor complimented Lara for giving his students a “reality check.”

“He explained how the work they do today will lead to the life they live tomorrow,” Taylor said.
