National Job Corps Director addresses Kittrell center graduation

Kittrell Job Corps Center graduates in North Carolina were treated to a special guest during their recent graduation ceremony.  The National Director of Job Corps, Esther R. Johnson, made her way to the center from Washington DC to address the students.  
“You are graduating at a time when the world is full of opportunity, change and challenges,” Johnson told the students.  “What you have accomplished is inspiring.  I’m so proud of you.”

Johnson has served as a federal Department of Labor employee since 1990.  She was named national Job Corps Director on March 25, 2006.

Johnson described the Kittrell graduates as “a new group of skilled workers, college enrollees and life-long learners.”

The Kittrell Student Government Association presented Ms. Johnson with a plaque to thank her for “charting a new vision for Job Corps.”

Prior to the afternoon graduation ceremony, Director Johnson toured the Kittrell Job Corps Center campus and met with staff and students.  Johnson said she was impressed with the positive attitude of faculty and staff.
