Lake Erie Correctional Institution manager honored

A surprised and very humble Larry Latva – Huron Housing Unit Manager at the MTC-operated Lake Erie Correctional Institution (LaECI) – recently accept a prestigious honor.

Latva also serves as the LaECI victim coordinator and was named the 2008-2009 Institution Victim Coordinator of the Year.

The veteran MTC employee was singled out this summer on the Ohio State University Campus in Marion, Ohio.

The presentation was made by the Office of Prisons’ Victim Services division, during a regularly scheduled meeting at the school.  The citation was made on behalf of all victim coordinators throughout Ohio.

Latva noted, it was very gratifying to be recognized by his peers and accepted the prestigious award by thanking all of those who recognized his efforts. 

Latva believes his work and interaction with offenders, family members and other victim coordinators, helps to make a solid contribution in the area of domestic violence and sexual assault prevention.
