Arizona State Prison - Kingman earns rave ACA reviews Arizona State Prison - Kingman will be recommended for accreditation by the American Correctional Association's (ACA) Commission on Accreditation for Corrections (CAC). The hearing will likely take place during the Correctional Accreditation Manager's Association (CAMA) Conference this spring. CAC auditors recently reviewed ASP-Kingman and are recommending 100% Mandatory and 98.8% Non-mandatory compliance rates. The CAC does not accredit an institution unless compliance is achieved on 100 percent of the applicable mandatory standards and at least 90 percent of the non-mandatory standards. The standards found in non-compliance at ASP-Kingman were due to physical plant issues, which staff cannot control. Therefore, staff at ASP-Kingman achieved the maximum score possible for their ACA audit. The facility will be audited every three years in an effort to maintain accreditation status. The accreditation process offers the opportunity to evaluate MTC operations against national standards, rectify deficiencies, and upgrade the quality of programs and services. Benefits include: improved management and conditions of confinement, improved staff development, increased accountability and enhanced credibility for corporate, administrative and line staff. The audit process creates a safer and more humane environment for personnel and offenders. It also assists in establishing criteria for upgrading programs and physical plants on a continuing basis.
