MTC earns part of $285-million contract for US aid to Asia

An international aid compact recently signed by President Bush is having a very positive impact on Management & Training Corporation.  The President authorized $285-million to be spent in Mongolia.  The funding will improve the Asian country’s infrastructure and its ability to provide vocational education opportunities to its 2.8-million citizens.

“The first step in this five year compact is to thoroughly assess the vocational education needs in Mongolia,” said MTC International Business Development Director Jane Marquardt.  “That’s where MTC comes in.  It’s our job to determine what they are doing well – and what they need to improve – at 35 vocational centers and 40 employment training centers throughout Mongolia.”

MTC is subcontracting with Washington DC-based Creative Associates International, Inc. to conduct the evaluations.  Once this phase of the work is completed, the country of Mongolia will then award bids for the necessary work projects.  MTC may also bid on portions of that work, depending on what is needed.

Management & Training Corporation’s International Division has completed contract work in Iraq, Sudan and Tunisia since it was created in 2004.

“MTC is quickly earning a very strong reputation in the international arena,” said International Workforce Development Director Jill Elkins.  “Our many years dedicated to offering vocational education at Job Corps centers and prisons have allowed us to quickly demonstrate an expertise in these fields throughout the world.  We believe there is great growth potential for this newest MTC Division across the globe.”

MTC will complete its written assessment of the vocational education needs in Mongolia by March 2008.  On-site evaluations will begin at the Asian training sites later this month.
