Students from all eight New York and New Jersey Job Corps centers – including one MTC operates and another MTC partners in operating – dazzled about 15 different employers during a successful health care career fair earlier this year.

“The students came prepared,” said New York-New Jersey Job Corps Consortium Liaison Allison Tagliaferro.  “They were well-dressed and armed with impressive resumes.  I know at least five of the students were hired on the spot – and many more took steps in that direction. 
I think the fair accomplished everything we hoped and more.”

The job fair was held at the South Bronx Job Corps Academy.  The event also involved students from the MTC-operated Delaware Valley Job Corps Center and from the Oneonta Job Corps Center, where MTC is a major partner. 

“There was a great cross section of both employer and student skills at the job fair,” said MTC Sr. Training Programs Vice President John Pedersen, who also attended the event.  “The employers seemed very impressed with the students’ abilities.  There is such a high demand for skilled professionals in the health care field.  Students found themselves surrounded by several quality employment options.  This is definitely something we want to do again.”
