Sierra Nevada Job Corps Student Earns Scholarship

Sierra Nevada Job Corps Center Security student Benjamin Mickle has earned one of three, $3,000 scholarships to attend Reno’s Truckee Meadows Community College. 

The highly-competitive scholarship opportunity was offered by Microsoft Licensing.  It was available to all Reno-area (Washoe County, NV) high school students. 

Scholarship applicants wrote a 500-word essay about the impact of technology on the student’s work, school and home life.  They were also required to provide transcript information. 

Mickle hopes to study Criminal Justice and Computer Science/Information Systems in order to work in the Computer Security field. 

He has been at SNJCC for eight months and is highly active in extracurricular activities.  Ben is currently a campus tutor and Student Government Association representative. 

He is also a former student ambassador.
