MTC Selected to Operate the Charleston Job Corps Center

January 20, 2023

(CHARLESTON, West Virginia)—Management & Training Corporation (MTC) is pleased to announce it was selected by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) to operate the Charleston Job Corps Center for a period of five years, effective January 1, 2023.

“MTC has had a long and successful history at the Charleston center,” says MTC Senior Vice President Jeff Barton. “It was actually one of the four Job Corps centers that were originally part of the company when it was created more than 40 years ago. We operated Charleston Job Corps from 1981 to 2011. This is a significant opportunity for MTC to be involved in the Charleston area once again.”

MTC is the nation’s leading operator of federal Job Corps centers with 23 centers nationwide, including six partner centers, and trains more than 14,000 students daily. MTC’s key to success is helping people realize their learning potential and providing life-changing opportunities through academic, technical, and social skills training.

“We continue to grow and have new opportunities to serve young people in Job Corps,” says MTC President Dan Marquardt. “This is a great opportunity to bring MTC’s engaged learning expertise and culture of caring back to the Charleston community.”

The Charleston Job Corps Center serves 307 students in a variety of high-demand job fields, including carpentry, facilities maintenance, painting, Heating, Ventilation, & Air Conditioning (HVAC), and network cable installation. The Charleston Job Corps Center also offers training in healthcare and business.

Job Corps is a federal program administered by the DOL and operated by companies like MTC. The Charleston Job Corps Center is one of 124 centers in the country. The Job Corps program provides education and training to 16- to 24-year-old youth and young adults. For more information about Job Corps, visit
