Dalby Offender Says “Environment” Has Helped Him Become “Better”

“Here at MTC’s Giles Dalby facility, the philosophy is BIONIC, Believe it or Not I Care.  The staff as well as the officers here stick to that philosophy, according to me.”

Mahesh Saraswathy spoke those words, describing how he feels about his experience at MTC’s Giles W. Dalby Correctional Facility in Post, Texas.

Mr. Mahesh leads the business concepts class offered by the facility to their Bureau of Prison population. He teaches business ethical standards, as well as self-discipline and the importance of a developing a business plan.

“It’s a humbling experience,” Mr. Mahesh says, “For me to see all this and also to be a part of it and help them grow into the next part of their life.”

Mr. Mahesh has been a student, tutor, and inmate instructor at the facility since 2015.  He sums up his experience this way:

“This environment at MTC Giles Dalby has helped all of us to become better citizens, as well as better individuals.”
