A Meeting, a Tour, and Local Leaders See MTC’s Difference at the Kyle Facility

Some community leaders in Kyle, Texas have a different view of prison life and MTC after touring the Kyle Correctional Center. The group attended the facility’s community relations council (CRC) meeting and toured the facility.

CRC member Kim Hilsenbeck is the communications specialist for the City of Kyle. She shared some of her thoughts and impressions following the CRC meeting:

“First of all thank you for inviting the city to be part of the CRC and to help us understand what goes on here at this facility. I think it is incredibly important that the community knows that, yes, it is a prison, but there are so many great programs happening here. To hear and see all of the things that happen here, it really changes your opinions about things.

Local leaders received updates on prison operations and discussed ways the facility can better serve the community.

“I was really impressed,” adds Kim, “with the meeting and the information, and the way it was all packaged, and how you make it personal. You make people care about it. It really hits it home, so I appreciate you and everything your staff is doing.”
