Detainee at Imperial Says Staff Making things “Better”

The library clerk position at MTC’s Imperial Regional Detention Facility in Calexico, CA recently became vacant. Three officers were assigned to, essentially, divide and conquer to help temporarily pick up the librarian duties: Ann Ferrari, Viola Celis, and Thomas McDaniels. They immediately picked up the extra duties and went above and beyond.

And their efforts did not go unnoticed. Detainee Aren Keshishian-Aznavoleh sent a letter to the warden praising the officers for both their hard work and effectiveness in covering the clerk vacancy, as well as for their attitudes in doing so.

“They have…taken the initiative to create a better and more effective environment for detainees by going above their job requirements and providing necessary information for immigration purposes,” writes Mr. Keshishian-Aznavoleh.  He goes on, “They all express a desire to help detainees in any way possible to get their freedom back.”
