A family member of an offender at MTC’s Lockhart Correctional Facility in Lockhart, Texas was really worried about her loved one during Hurricane Harvey.

Amy Kirby contacted the ombudsman of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and received prompt assurances that all offenders at Lockhart were safe.  She was so impressed with the ombudsman’s response that she wrote a thank-you letter.

In the letter, Ms. Kirby also expressed gratitude for the follow up call directly from the Lockhart facility.

“Please pass on my appreciation,” she wrote, “for the way both your office and the Lockhart unit helped me with my concerns.”
