Incarcerated Man Expresses Feelings in Letter to MTC

The reason MTC made the decision to work in corrections in 1987 was to make a difference in the lives of incarcerated men and women. Not everyone will take the difficult and necessary changes to turn their lives around, but many will. And few things are more rewarding than seeing someone make lasting changes that improve their lives, strengthen their families, and increase community safety.

We often get letters from men and women who are incarcerated at an MTC facility. This letter is from a man at MTC’s Diboll Correctional Facility in Diboll, Texas.

Dear Management and Training Corporation,

I just wanted to say thank you so much…I love Diboll re-entry facility. This is my first time “down” and to be quite honest it took a heavy toll on my mind. Nine months of county jails and a couple of more months spent in Middleton transfer unit was enough to make this guy realize how important it is for me to focus on my life-long dreams in a place of how I was living prior…It was here that I rediscovered who I was through work, rigorous exercise, and most importantly your Toastmasters program on the unit. God bless your entire staff and owners. Thank you for the privilege to finish my sentence in the peace and comfort of this facility.
