Johanna Trevino is Making a Difference at the El Valle Detention Facility

MTC Medical provides the medical services at many of the facilities we operate. The medical team at each site is led by a health services administrator or HSA.

All of us at MTC want to take a moment to salute each one of our HSAs, knowing they represent the determination and fortitude of every member of their team at each facility where MTC Medical has a presence.

In this story, we pay tribute to Johanna Trevino, the HSA at the El Valle Detention Facility in Raymondville, TX. Francisco Venegas is the warden.

Johanna: I like to talk, and I like getting to know people. I like to know their background, their experience. Because as a team, we come from different backgrounds, different experiences. And we put those all together? It just makes us all better, especially when we share those experiences.

Warden Venegas: The benefit of Johanna is her energetic personality and constant smile.

Johanna: I’ve been here about seven months, but in those seven months, I have got to know a lot of the administrative staff; especially warden, HR, the deputy warden, Chief of Security, Administrative Lieutenant. If I have a problem, and I’m trying to find a solution or think outside the box, they are great in having different ideas. ‘How can we come together to work for everybody’? So I’m very appreciative of them.

Warden Venegas: It’s not a mission of MTC Medical versus MTC operations. It’s actually a mission that is focused on accomplishing what we need to do for the detainee population. So, her communication skills have really aided us in heading in that direction. The best thing about Johanna is that if there are obstacles, it’s not a matter of how we overcome them, it’s just a matter that we overcome them together.

Johanna: So, here, there’s about forty staff. I have full-time providers, full-time nursing staff, and they work amazing together. I have a strong, strong belief that if we can work well together and we’re happy coming to work, that’s overall going to effect the quality of our work.
