October 28, 2021

(Raymondville, TX) – Management & Training Corporation (MTC) is pleased to report the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) has selected MTC to operate the Willacy County State Jail in Raymondville.

“MTC feels very fortunate to partner with TDCJ,” says Vice President Mike Bell. “MTC now operates all of the contract correctional facilities for the State of Texas. We’ve had a long and successful relationship with TDCJ, and we look forward to providing the same high standard of care at the Willacy State Jail that we provide at the other Texas facilities we operate.”

The Willacy County State Jail provides rehabilitation services to approximately 1,000 men in TDCJ custody. The new contract begins November 1, 2021, and will run through August 31, 2025. MTC operates ten correctional facilities for TDCJ and provides treatment programs for residents at 16 facilities operated by the State.

Mike Bell adds, “MTC was founded 40 years ago with a mission to help at-risk people improve their lives through education, job training, counseling, substance abuse, and a variety of other effective rehabilitation programs. Our goal is to keep people from re-offending, keep communities safe, and help people improve their lives.”

Bernadette Rodriguez has been selected as warden of the Willacy County State Jail. Warden Rodriguez has worked for MTC for six years serving in a variety of leadership positions. She served most recently as warden at the Kyle Correctional Center in Kyle, Texas. Warden Rodriguez began her career as a correctional officer with TDCJ in 2008.

“MTC is proud to partner with Florida to provide life-changing programs to men and women in their care,” added Revell. “Our mission is to operate safe and secure facilities in a positive environment where incarcerated individuals have access to a wide variety of substance abuse, vocational, life-skills, and other vital rehabilitation programs. Our goal is to reduce recidivism, thus improving lives and making communities safer.”
