LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Miss. (WTOK) – Local law enforcement suited up in Santa’s big red suit to give kids in the area a special gift.

Fathers were able to spend quality time with their children for the holiday season at East Mississippi Correctional Facility.

About 20 inmates took part in the third annual “Christmas with Dad” program. It was a reward for completing certain programs and being on good behavior.

This special event featured fun activities like bowling, bingo, coloring and families got the chance to take pictures with Santa.

“One of the things we like to do is community service, child welfare, and other things for these offenders. Especially to those who had done everything they are supposed to do. The ones that have been in all the programs that are available. We’re just happy to have a good time with them,” says EMCF deputy director of programs, Ray Rice.

The theme of the event was “Don’t Let the Grinch Steal your Christmas.”
