Tears Flow as Marriage seminar touches hearts at Lindsey State jail

M. Sheehan is incarcerated at the Lindsey State Jail in Jacksboro, Texas where staff members facilitated a marriage seminar put on by faith-based volunteers.

“They catered to us,” Mr. Sheehan said, “made me and my wife feel like a king and a queen.”

Here’s how it worked. Men interested in taking the seminar took the ten-week class at the facility while their wives took similar courses at home. At the end of the ten weeks, the program culminated with a very special day, where the wives were able to come to the facility

J. Suniga participated with his wife. “We enjoyed a very fulfilling day in so many great aspects; in joy, in love, in humbleness, humility.”

The married couples were able to spend the entire day together, participating in a variety of activities, sharing the lessons they’d learned, discussing their futures, and renewing their love.

“We spent nine hours together here on this unit,” Mr. Sheehan explains. “It was so comfortable, it touched my heart. I’m so appreciative for me and my wife participating in this program, it has changed everything about our marriage.”

“I got to sit next to my wife for the whole day,” adds Mr. Suniga. “Just being in her presence was so amazing. Thank you to everyone for allowing us this privilege.”

“You get to share your vows with her and tell her how much she really means to you,” says Mr. Sheehan. “That meant everything to me. I’ll never be the same after this program. Thank you, guys.”
