Work Program Helps Detainees Maintain Positive Attitude

Two detainees at Willacy County Regional Detention Facility in Raymondville, Texas, expressed how they feel about the volunteer work program.

Brad Miller:

“I think it’s great. It’s given me an opportunity to learn some work ethics and to be more positive. With the group of guys I work with, we learn how to work together as a team. It’s very fulfilling.”

Erika Salinas (English translation):

“The voluntary work program has done a lot for me, because it’s helped my days go easier. I’ve been really pleased with the relationships with the people that work here. They make me feel like an important part of this area. I’ve been able to do things that I wouldn’t normally do, and it’s helped me personally to overcome and given me a lot more enthusiasm in this process.”
