The MTC Medical division provides the medical services at many of the facilities we operate. The medical team at each site is led by a Health Services Administrator or HSA.

All of us throughout MTC want to take a moment to salute each one of our HSAs, knowing they represent the determination and fortitude of every member of their team at each facility where MTC Medical has a presence.

In this story, we pay tribute to Sandra Moyer, the HSA at the IAH Detention Center in Livingston, TX. Alex Sanchez is the warden.

Sandra: I love my staff. The staff is great. Every day I come in and they make me smile. They’re such a group of hardworking people.

Warden Sanchez: She’s going to be the first one to run into the fire. If they’re struggling in the department because of the workload, she’s going to be right there next to her staff, working alongside and trying to get the mission done. Sometimes it’s like to teams, you have the medical side and then you have everybody else. I think her coming into that role, we’ve now managed to make it into one team.

Sandra: It takes the team. It takes all of us working together, and keeping our attitudes or egos on the side. Let’s just get our job done. We treat everyone the same, we take care of their needs, and we treat them respectfully. And, in the same vein, we treat each other the same way. We take care of each other.

Warden Sanchez: That department, I think it’s a big reflection of her. Now it’s her department. So she’s making changes now to where that morale is starting to increase, and its more transparency, more teamwork. It’s more appreciation for the staff. And that all starts with Ms. Moyer.

Sandra: I’m just really grateful for my staff, and for all they do, they’re just amazing. When they’re tired, they just keep going. And I’m just so impressed with them. They are an example to us all.

Warden Sanchez: I think her department is doing as well as they’re doing because of the leadership that she brings to the table. I’m just blessed to have her as my HSA.
