Dedicated to the Success of Sierra Nevada Job Corps Students

Someone once said, “Life is short. Work somewhere awesome.”

That’s what Tom Pillar thinks. He’s the community life director at MTC’s Sierra Nevada Job Corps Center in Reno.

“There are some wonderful advantages to working at Sierra Nevada Job Corps,” says Tom. “The first thing is—it’s just fun. It is very exciting to work with young adults. Every day is interesting. They’re very entertaining and fun to work with.”

Tom spends his day and evenings checking up on students after class to make sure they’re doing well and focused on their career and life success.

“I think Job Corps is a great place to work. In addition to helping students. There’s lots of room for upward mobility and advancement.”

You might say Tom is right in line with Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy about helping others.

The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”– Mahatma Gandhi

“I love working at Job Corps. I think anybody that wants to see the world as a better place and anybody that likes helping young adults and teenagers transition in the world and reach their full potential as they transition into adulthood. This is a great place for you to work.”
