From Job Corps to a Master’s Degree Thanks to Earle C. Clements

Briana Gosier was working as a certified nursing assistant when she realized she needed to take her education to another level. So, she went to the Earle C. Clements Job Corps Academy in Morganfield, Kentucky.

“Job Corps,” she says, “prepared me for work and continuing education by providing me with the academic and career preparation I needed to succeed in my chosen field.”

During her time at Earle C. Clements, Briana quickly excelled in the medical office support program and held several leadership positions including student ambassadors vice president, president of student government, and dorm wing leader.

After completing the medical office support program, she enrolled in college and earned an associate’s degree in liberal arts through the Earle C. Clements college program.

“This [Job Corps] program,” Briana stresses, “provided me with a sense of direction, self-discipline, leadership skills, and an unprecedented zest for life itself.

After graduating from Job Corps with an associate’s degree, she transferred to Southern Illinois University and earned a bachelor’s degree in healthcare management with a minor in finance. She then enrolled in Capella University and earned a master’s degree in public health.

“I am extremely grateful to Job Corps for all it has taught me, and I wish the best to those given the opportunity to participate in this wonderful program.”

Briana is currently employed with Pruitt Home Health-Atlanta in the medical records division.

“Job Corps is everything that you make it,” says Briana. “You will be successful as you choose to be. This program gave me the head start I needed to be successful in life; the most important being soft skills such as listening, collaborating, and communicating with others ensuring a positive and productive work environment. These skills are used daily on my job and my personal life.”
