The Gary Job Corps Center in San Marcos, Texas recently expanded its partnership with the city of Kyle, Texas. The center has long partnered with Kyle to help prepare its students for the job market.

The most recent agreement involves students interning in the city manager’s office.

Maria Castillo is one of those students. Maria has learned valuable on-the-job skills including leadership, organization, communication, and teamwork.

Kyle City Manager Scott Sellers says,

“We have been impressed by the professionalism that has been shown by Maria. The work she is doing has been saving the city in not only dollars but in time as well; countless hours of storing documents.”

Maria Castillo has been busy digitizing community development and zoning documents compiled over the past ten years.

Gary Job Corps is in discussions with the city of Kyle to provide electrical, HVAC, and administration students with internship opportunities as well.
