Hartford Training and Certifications Landed This Young Man in a Good Job
Ralstan Largie’s siblings attended Job Corps and are very successful. Ralstan decided to follow in their footsteps. He attended Hartford Job Corps and chose the manufacturing program.
He says his experience at Job Corps was amazing.
“The teachers made sure that the work was broken down to the simplest form so even the most difficult lessons could be understood by all the students. And, it was inspiring to see all my peers excelling. It gave me a reason to want more and be more.”
Ralstan was so driven he served as the president of the student government association which he says was an amazing opportunity that lead him to work with executive staff at the center.
He was also part of the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology (CCAT) training, in which he earned a certification for tooling that included programming, tools, and materials.
Because of the training he received at Hartford Job Corps and the CCAT program, Ralstan is now employed by Har-Conn and is a plating operator.
He says, “Anything that adds value to your life is valuable. The program has made my life better than it was before because now I have a life skill trade.”
His life goal is to venture into trading stocks and achieving a degree in civil engineering.
His advice to Job Corps students is to, “Begin with the end in mind and maintain your focus. Remember the reasons why you are here and what you want to achieve from this opportunity.”
