“I’ve improved so much” says a Carpentry student at Wind River

Tyler Aberly, from Aurora Colorado, explains how the Wind River Job Corps Center in Riverton, Wyoming changed his life. The center offers training in ten different technical areas including carpentry which Tyler choose.

“I started here, and it’s been the time of my life. I’ve improved so much, learned a lot, and met some new people—some good people. They want you to learn here how to be fast, productive, and how to stay on task. And it was a good decision. I’ve accomplished a lot in my time here. I’m glad I came here because you learn a lot and you meet new people. You get to see a new state and areas of the country. And, you learn a lot. I’ve learned job training skills, communication, and a lot of good character traits that will help you in the work place.”

And with all this training and education, Tyler says once he graduates, he’ll be in a great position to pursue his long-term goal of operating his own company.

“My goal is to own my own business. Hopefully a carpentry shop or construction site. I’ve met people here and got a lot of new friends. And, I’ve learned a trade that I know I can excel in. It’s been an exceptional experience. I’ve learned a lot and made a lot of progress here. It’s changed my life.”
