A Rose to Recognize Strongest Supporters of Turner Job Corps Students

The recent Turner Job Corps summer graduation showcased the milestones of its students. The event included the first “Rose Ceremony” where the students could present a single rose to those who have made the greatest impact in their lives.

The students also voted as a group for the one individual who has been instrumental in helping them achieve their career and personal goals. And, the summer 2017 rose plaque goes to Academic Manager Sherri Chestnut-Russell! Congratulations!

“I was very emotional,” says Sherri. “For 15 years, I have been behind the scenes helping the students become successful. I never realized how much attention they paid to the work I put in with them. I was very humbled to know the students have seen my love for the job and appreciate what I do for them. I thank them for the votes and Mr. [William] Coleman [center director] for starting the Rose Ceremony and for giving me a chance to shine for a moment and be a rose for the center.”
