Wilmington Job Corps Gave This Young Lady a Promising Career in Healthcare
Azure Campbell takes care of residents at Gilpin Hall in Wilmington, Delaware. She’s a certified nursing assistant or CNA and got her training at MTC’s Wilmington Job Corps Center. Before Job Corps, she was working at a bakery and had no long-term career goals.
“I had just finished high school,” she explains, “and I was like, ‘I need something else to do with myself.’”
So she joined Job Corps, working hard to earn a certification as a CNA. She says instructors were very supportive.
“They’re there to help you.”
Now she’s working full time at this care facility.
“I think I’m going to be here for a while. It has good benefits.”
She loves her job and is already working on advancing her education in the healthcare industry.
“Right now, I’m at the Harris School of Business for medical assistant.”
After she earns her medical assistant certification, she will study to become a licensed practical nurse which will substantially increase her earning power.
