MTC Senior Officer Talks About the Status of the Job Corps Program

Click above to watch a brief video from MTC Senior Vice President of Education & Training John Pedersen. John explains how MTC staff are fully engaged in reaching out to prospective Job Corps students and ensuring the program remain strong during the COVID-19 situation.

“For the last 40 years, MTC has provided quality job training to youth across the United States. Our Job Corps centers take pride in operating high-performing, well-maintained facilities which offer students the best opportunity to become career ready.

During this COVID 19 Pandemic, there has been a climate of uncertainty and high anxiety.

While most of the country is under a “shelter in place” mandate, our outreach and admissions counselors are hard at work recruiting potential students for the Job Corps program. Our outreach counselors will continue to contact students while practicing social distancing through social-media platforms, email, phone calls, and texts. We will remain diligent in our pursuit to contact all Job Corps eligible youth and inform them of the exciting opportunities at our centers upon their return. We know the academic and career & technical training offerings at our centers will provide pathways to employment, apprenticeships, college, and advanced training.

Our outreach and admissions counselors will continue working remotely during this period. They are making connections and pursuing today’s youth in an attempt to introduce them to the great opportunity offered by Job Corps. They will prepare them for their arrival upon the commencement of this “Spring break” and the distance-learning period.

We would like to thank you for your continued support of the Job Corps program. Our network of outreach and admissions counselor may contact your office, company, or agency to explore how we can connect with eligible youth between the ages of 16-24 to introduce them to the Job Corps program. We would like to thank you for your continued partnership and support.

If you would like to enroll or get connected with an admissions counselor in your community, go to https://www.jobcorps.gov/ to start your application and learn more.

Continue to remain safe during these times. We can’t wait to see you soon.
