Reports to the residential living manager. Directly supervises the senior residential advisors, residential advisors, and on-call residential advisors. Responsible for assisting in the management of the residential program on assigned shifts and overall shift supervision in compliance with government and management directives.

Essential Functions:

  1. Serve as area point of contact for departmental crisis situations and urgent situations such as concerned parental phone calls or visits, significant inappropriate student behaviors, transportation issues, etc.
  2. Coordinate transportation requirements for residential activities, and evening activities with other departments, and contacting replacement staff, when needed.
  3. Monitor administration of all required reports and records for assigned shift; assure that bed checks, morning accountability sheets, logs and other specified documents are delivered to the appropriate departments/shifts in a timely manner.
  4. Assist in the development and implementation of new and revised policies, procedures and programs affecting residential operations; participate in on-going residential living self-assessments.
  5. Review and audit all assigned areas regularly for contractual compliance and effectiveness of delivery of services to students. Prepare related reports.
  6. Provide guidance, as needed, to residential staff on assigned shift; provide feedback, as needed, on residential staff performance to the residential manager and the director, career success.
  7. Provide support to residential staff in managing negative student behavior and assist in resolving individual and/or group issues.
  8. Monitor accomplishment of regularly scheduled student clean-up activities and other special residential housekeeping activities; provide feedback to responsible staff.
  9. Monitor pass procedures, on-or off-center entertainment, incentive, and recreational activities for students.
  10. Participate in career development service system by ensuring a safe living environment in the dorm.
  11. Maintain a safe and clean work area that models high standards for a work environment.
  12. Provide positive, quality customer services to students, staff and other center customers.
  13. Participate in student employability programs and activities.
  14. Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps’ Zero Tolerance Policy.
  15. Promote the development of career success standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.
  16. Maintain accountability of staff, students and property; adhere to safety practices.

 

It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

High school diploma and two years experience working with youth. Excellent written and verbal communications skills and computer proficiency required.  Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record, unless waived by management.
