From the Heart: Graceville HSA Terry Edwards
The MTC Medical division provides medical services at many of the facilities we operate. The medical team at each site is led by a Health Services Administrator or HSA.
All of us throughout MTC want to take a moment to salute each one of our HSAs, knowing they represent the determination and fortitude of every member of their team at each facility where MTC Medical has a presence.
In this story, we pay tribute to Terry Edwards, the HSA at the Graceville Correctional Facility in Graceville, FL. Scott Middlebrooks is the warden.
Terry: “It’s a heart matter, I guess I would say. From my heart, I am here to serve these patients. And I see that in my Director of Nursing, I see that in my staff. We just simply have a heart for taking care of folks.”
Warden Middlebrooks: “Terry stands out. He’s a very good communicator. But he’s also very knowledgeable, and he’s very personable. I think it’s his positive personality in always being cheerful and happy and having that can-do attitude.”
Terry: “We’ve got a great warden, got great AWs (Assistant Wardens), great Chief. Education department, food service, we just flow together. When we go to a department head meeting monthly, there’s a comradery there that is just ideal.”
Warden Middlebrooks: “He’s approachable, so staff feel that they can go to him as they have problems.”
Terry: “They care, they’re well-skilled, even the new ones. Older nurses are good at working with the newer nurses to help educate and train them. It’s just a pretty neat team.”
Warden Middlebrooks: “He is always upbeat and happy.”
Terry: “I started out early in my career in corrections expressing that, ‘you’re not an inmate to me, you are a patient’.”
