“They have made me feel like one of them” Says IAH Detainee

Men and women held by Immigration and Customs Enforcement typically spend very short periods of time in the facilities before being transported back to their countries of origin. During their stay, staff at MTC detention centers work very hard to provide these individuals with a comfortable and respectful environment. Arturo Rios is held at the IAH Detention Center in Livingston, Texas. He recently wrote a letter to Warden David Stacks thanking him for the way he’s been treated. He writes,

“I just want to say thank you and commend the personnel and guards here at this detention center. Even in a place like this, these people [staff] make a huge difference for the best. They have treated me with respect and dignity…they have gone over and beyond. They come to work with a smile on their face. They try their best to help. They have made me feel like one of them. Congratulations on a well-managed facility.”
