Ohio Corrections Director Talks Benefits of Public/Private Partnerships

Gary Mohr leads the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation & Correction. He says the public sector benefits from partnering with the private sector because it drives competition and results in better performance. Director Mohr says contract prisons are “every bit a part” of  his agency and the quality of corrections improves by including the private sector. He says,

“We get better, and I think they get better as we work together and start to identify best practices. We start to compete a little bit, and we start to use metrics to take a look at performance whether it’s programming or violence.”
