“Probably the best thing about Job Corps is that they provide me with a career to support my family,” explains Earle C. Clements Job Corps alumnus Ricardo Guivas. Because of Job Corps, Ricardo is a contributing member of society.

“I got a home that I just bought about six months ago. And I love the area.”

He’s married and has four children. And because of the Earle C. Clements Job Corps Center, he can take good care of his family.

“Job Corps was a great opportunity. And when I took it, well, it opens a lot of doors.”

Several doors were open, and Ricardo now works as an auto technician at Romain Cross Pointe Auto Park in Evansville, Indiana.

“I love hiring students out of the program,” says Operations Director Larry Renschler who deeply appreciates the Job Corps program.

“They [graduates] are the most ready to go to get out in the field,” adds Larry. He says Ricardo has been a valuable asset to the dealership where Ricardo has worked for nearly a decade.

“Ricardo is a fantastic young man. He’s been working here for ten years. He’s excellent. He’ll give you the shirt off your back and do anything you ask. I love his attitude.”

Larry is extremely impressed with the Job Corps program and the quality of students it produces.

“Well, I tell you, I think it’s one of the best kept secrets out there…What I like about it is, being on center, they have to adhere to certain policies and rules that a lot of students don’t have to do, so they’re ready to go. A lot of the soft skills that they teach them in Job Corps, really go a long way with us.”

“It’s one of the best decisions I ever made in my life,” says Ricardo about his decision years ago to enroll at the Earle C. Clements Job Corps Center in Morganfield, Kentucky.

“I tell everybody that makes this happen—it’s a great opportunity and keep doing it because there are people out there who need the help.”
