Otero County Prison Facility

Community Snapshot: Otero County Prison Facility in Chaparral donated 50 crocheted blankets, 50 stuffed animals and 50 coloring books to the El Paso Children’s Hospital on July 17. Male and female inmates attend crochet classes every Friday with Ms. Zambrano and Ms. Hernandez Zambrano is in charge of the male class. She has 17 inmates that have been qualified to become tutors, and 71 volunteers. They collaborate in crocheting blankets and stuffed animals. Hernandez is in charge of the female class. Twenty-five of the twin-size blankets that were donated today were from her students.
