Step Inside Graceville Correctional Facility

MTC took over operations of the Graceville Correctional Facility in Graceville, Florida, on September 1, 2021.
A small town in rural Florida, Graceville is a beautiful setting for the medium and close custody facility, which houses 1,884 residents and employs 287 dedicated staff.

“MTC does things differently than the previous contractor,” said Warden Scott Middlebrooks. “So it was a change for them. But I’m happy to say that I’ve really seen staff embrace the culture of MTC, the BIONIC philosophy that we have. And now it’s just part of their everyday life.”

Nathan Owens is a lieutenant at the facility.”It’s constantly improving here, it really is,” he observed. “I feel like, as a whole, we’ve grown a lot together over the past year since MTC took over. You can see that in the employees and the inmates that reside here. It’s been amazing.”
“Ultimately,” explains education administrator Meredith Moreau, “people can see that, truly, the institution and the people that work at the institution really do want the best for the staff and for our residents.”

“I just love MTC,” Shenesi Beard states, who is a Unit Manager. “MTC cares about the inmates; they care about the staff. And when you got a company that cares about the staff and the inmates, and they collaborate together. (It’s) awesome. I love it.”

“I think at Graceville, we do have a good culture,” says Elizabeth Tew, an academic counselor. “I think there’s always room for improvement, but right now, we’ve got a lot of outstanding team members, a lot of good staff, with a lot of experience. As we move forward, I feel like we are on the cusp of greatness.”
