Fun Recreational Activities Help Rejuvenate Students’ Minds at the Los Angeles Job Corps Center

After a long day in class, Job Corps students need a little break. Students say recreational activities really help. Playing pool, cards, exercising, and many other activities are available. They also go off-center for activities.

All Job Corps centers offer recreation where students can have fun and balance their lives. Los Angeles Job Corps Recreation Advisor Asael Rodriguez loves his job.

“I’m in the best department. I’m in recreation. I get to do all the fun stuff. I get to hang out with the dinosaurs. I get to go to the movies. I get to go to outings like sports games, and I just love my job.”

Here at the Los Angeles Job Corps Center, students have a lot of options. Some share their musical talents as they sing and play musical instruments. Others participate in sports, recreational activities, or paint and draw in art classes.

Asael Rodriguez’s love for Job Corps is also personal.

“I didn’t come up with the best upbringing,” he says. “I kind of grew up like a lot of these students. I didn’t know about this program when I was young, so I could have definitely benefited from here. So, I’m glad I could be here to tell them that it is a good program.”
