Four residents of the Lindsey State Jail recently expressed how they felt about their stay at the Jacksboro, TX facility.

Andrew Glick: “I’ve been here for 3 years…I’m pretty well-known around here. I don’t have any problems. I couldn’t ask for anything better.”

Eric Grant: “This prison, it’s alright. It’s laid back, more than anything. I don’t enjoy being locked up, but I enjoy my stay, being here.”

Joseph Green: “Here at Lindsey Unit…most of them [staff] are kind and want to help. They have to follow rules, just like we have to follow rules.”

Andrew Glick: “The staff are good here. The food is good. We got air conditioning.”

Eric Grant: “Food’s great. I enjoy that, too. I enjoy making the food and preparing it.”

Victor Lutz: “Most of the staff? Pretty good to work with. They’re pretty much by the book; do what they’re supposed to do.”

Joseph Green: “At the MTC units that I’ve been at: Billy Moore, Bradshaw, and Lindsey, I’ve worked in the kitchen, and I’ve worked for maintenance, and I’ve worked for supply, and all the people I’ve worked for have been great people to work for. Really good people, really good environment to work in.”

Andrew Glick: “I’m in the faith-based dorms. I completed that. I’ve completed Inside Outside Dad, Anger Management.”

Victor Lutz: “Mr. Clay is a really good teacher. He will get you ready to take the GED and do his best to get you in there to test before your time to leave.”

Joseph Green: “Believe it or not I care; first came across that philosophy when I was at Billy Moore unit in Overton, about six years ago. And the people there were really good people; the guards, the CO’s [correctional officers], the warden, the major. They were really good people and actually seemed like they did care.”

Eric Grant: “The staff is great; staff is great.”

Andrew Glick: “To do time? It doesn’t get any better than this.”

Joseph Green: “The philosophy, it works here. The warden? He’s a strict warden, but he’s firm, and it helps you build structure for getting out; for your family and for yourself and your future. I think it’s good. The Lindsey unit is a good unit…I’ve learned to humble myself, and hopefully I can teach that humility to my daughter. That’s what I’m hoping to get out of this.”
