Multiple media outlets in Egypt recently published stories about a training conference held for the Workforce Improvement and Skill Enhancement or WISE project. The project, which MTC has been implementing since 2015, is funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). The training conference was held in conjunction with the Egyptian Ministry of Education and Technical Education.

Through the WISE project, MTC is helping thousands of young people in Egypt gain workforce skills, learned in technical schools, that will lead to successful careers and more secure lives.

The Honorary President of the Egyptian National Competitiveness Council Dr. Hossam Badrawi said that Egypt will regain its status as a leader in education, with its creative young people providing many innovations that will serve society. 

He added that the labor market will witness significant changes in the coming years and that Egypt’s future will be completely different from its current economic situation.

Badrawi called on educators in technical schools to challenge young people to continuously develop skills to keep pace with change, achieve a high degree of competitiveness, and develop the necessary knowledge base to qualify for future changes.

 At the training conference, MTC employee, Mohamed Fawzy, Deputy Director of the WISE project stressed the need to bridge the gap between technical education and the labor market, pointing out that Egypt has 2000 schools of technical education attended by 53% of high school age students.  He noted that the future of industry in Egypt lies with the success of Egypt’s technical education schools. 

The conference, organized by the US Agency for International Development (USAID), was attended by 1,200 participants from 60 technical schools in 11 Egyptian Governorates.
