Volunteers expressed gratitude to the Dalby officers, the facility, and the community for their generous donations.
“Please pass on my appreciation,” she wrote, “for the way both your office and the Lockhart unit helped me with my concerns.”
“Well, the garden project started with a couple employees, mainly Mr. Van Looy (finance manager),” explains Deputy Warden Terry Wiktorik of the Sanders Estes Unit, a correctional facility located in Venus, Texas and operated by MTC.
“It kind of helped me get a little bit more prepared to answer the questions in the future.”
“Jacksonville Job Corps is preparing these students to work in this kind of facility. They do a great job with student training.”
“They’ve treated me with respect, helped me to respect myself, to the point that I got the mentality that I was going to do this, and I was going to graduate.”
“I’m really proud of our staff and students,” explained Coleman. “We are going to continue beyond today to make sure we have a violent free campus.”
Barnes does volunteer work for the Anne Moody History Project, which is based at the privately run prison where he works, Wilkinson County Correctional Facility.
