Los Angeles Job Corps Alumni: Determination Pays Off

It’s a story of hard work and success based on opportunity and determination. It’s Ronalyn’s tale of triumph.

Los Angeles Job Corps student Ronalyn Victor visited Union Station and Metrolink rail lines a week before she starts her new job next week. “I will be working an internship at the Metrolink HR office, which is in downtown LA”.

Ronalyn has been at the LA center for about a year and has finished both the Office Administration course and the Advanced Transportation Communication Union program. She says she’s ready to go. “So, I start Monday at my new job at the Metrolink HR office. I’ll support the staff with their clerical duties and communication between departments.”

She says Job Corps is a difference maker. Especially for her. “I think Job Corps has a different environment. At Job Corps, you learn more interpersonal skills from people with different backgrounds and people who come from all across the country. And they bring new experiences to you. I feel like I have grown a lot as a person.”She says she is excited about her new job and believes in her new company’s mission.

“Eighty percent of their riders are people who commute to work in a different county. So, they bring people off the highways and lessen the congestion in LA, which has a lot of traffic. So we were all very happy that we have a company like Metrolink.”
