“Job Corps provided a better environment,” says Sylvia. “It is very structured and allowed me to focus on my educational goals without the distractions of family responsibilities.”

Sylvia completed the insurance and financial services program. As part of Hartford Job Corps’ advanced career training program, Syliva is now pursing an associate’s degree in accounting at the Capital Community College. Her first semester she earned straight As and was invited to apply to the business honor society. She was then inducted into Beta Theta Chapter Honors Society.

Sylvia expresses her appreciation for Hartford Job Corps and the wonderful staff.

“The staff is very encouraging and supportive. They provided tutoring and counselling, and always reminded me of important deadlines. The center provided all the resources I needed to attend school and made me want to do better.”
